No More Setbacks

Long ass time, no post huh? Needless to say I've been beyond busy and gone through a few things since my last blog. These past few days I've felt like the only way to get certain things off my chest would be to just go in on a post and vent. I don't see the point in lying on the internet so everything will be truthful. So sit back and enjoy.

I feel like this past year I kinda wasted my time and money on a relationship that I had to cut short. To be completely honest, I'm extremely happy with my life and the way things are going for me and this music shit. Aside from the little drama from the recently ended relationship that will be non existent soon everything is better than it has been in a long time. When you survive a serious life threatening accident that takes you about a year to be fully rehabilitated from you tend to be stronger than the weak. I find it funny how someone can swear up and down they love you more than anything and make so many promises when really they don't give a fuck about anything but themselves. Some people are so worried about fitting in and being cool that will do anything to be trendy and be accepted. Wack ass friends you have nothing in common with, wack ass music, wack everything just to be cool. These people don't fool me though. They are pretty transparent to be quite honest. You can't be yourself and you let your parents make your every move. Someone whom I use to care for a lot became very predictable and grew to be so selfish that I had to let them go. For me this is sorta like a proper goodbye lol.

Were you ashamed of me? I really needed to go to college to keep you? Your parents are hateful, judgmental, over controlling bullies. I will never let my life be led by another human being, let alone someone's parents whom I barely ever liked. Don't be afraid of what your parents or friends think. If something or someone truly makes you happy then you should be with them or do what makes you happy. It's so sad how people let others write their book of life for them. I do plan on going back to school but I'll get to that on my own time. I got so much going on that I can't even go in on right now because I don't want to spoil it. I'm doing what makes me happy. Have fun pretending and being a little robot. Don't expect things to ever be like they were. You had your chance. I hope you suffer and drown in sadness for the way you made things you're a selfish, confused little robot. Goodbye

Sidenote: The might "Growing Wings" is on in production right now. The cover will be done within a few days. I'm pretty excited for that because the guy who designed Raekwon's "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II" album cover is designing my cover. "Growing Wings" features Frank Ramz, TreaZon & the underground legend Copywrite. I got production from Charlie Hilton, Urban Noize, Copywrite and more. I'm not one to toot my own too much but it's gonna be pretty fucking dope. It's growth season biiiiiiitch.

7 Days Later

With tons of setbacks and delays it felt like my first project would never see the light of day. I had to take a seat and watch everyone release good music while all I could do is write music and wait. Waiting can be the cause of some serious issues, like insecurities, anger, and depression. Which I happened to suffer from all 3 but once the waiting was over I got off my ass and finished my EP. I wasn't gonna let that car crash keep me down forever.

Down2Earth was finally released last Monday and 7 days later the verdict is in. The project is a success. I didn't have any major expectations for this project. It was meant to be a little appetizer. It wasn't meant to be a classic or a game changer it was meant to be something to get my name out there to a few people. That's exactly what it did. And I'm successful by my own admission not by what any critic or blog says.

I wanna sincerely thank everyone who posted the EP. A big thank you to my big brother Frank Ramz and my brother Charlie Hilton. I also wanna thank Wordap.net, Fistfulofsound.com and Vick @ REUP Spot. And I wanna thank everybody who actually downloaded and listened to Down2Earth whether you liked it or not. I truly appreciate it. I promise my full length project "Growing Wings" will be better.

Why Did the Raccoon Cross the Road?

This will probably come off as self-serving and more than a little cheesy.

*First, a bit of exposition.

I am, and have been for the past 3 to 4 years, severely depressed. My greatest strength and my greatest weakness is my memory, the sharpness of my intellect. My once boundless optimism (I am, admittedly, a dreamer and a hopeless romantic) has begun to be replaced by a bitter, jaded, cynicism. My hatred for this place, for this greedy, selfish, mindless society is only outweighed by my all-encompassing self-loathing. All of my greatest successes and failures haunt my waking dreams. The opposite happens in my dreams.

Honestly, I hate to dream. Well, to be fair, it's not the dreaming that I hate. It's the waking up. This is one of the many reasons that Inception was a film I was particularly interested in (and by "interested in," I mean, "marking the fuck out for"). I went to see the midnight showing at a theater not too far from my house, which sits outside city limits in what is the beginning of a vast expanse of farmland. Around an hour before I was to leave, my two beagles decided to run off into the night and explore. Beagles have a habit of doing this, once they find an interesting smell. If it happens during the day, we don't often worry, because they always come back. This is different at night, when Coyotes are on the prowl, Coyotes which would quite easily rip my dogs to shreds. Especially the fat one, the one who was still missing when I left (she came back later that night, while I was at the movie).

In a soon to be explained coincidence, my grandmother (who lives farther in city,) had been having problems with a family of Raccoons stealing her cat's food. My uncle and step-father caught a few, who soon died from the heat the next day. I wondered if I should feel pity for what must have been a terrible death, or if I should just disregard it. Raccoons are particularly mean creatures.

Anyways, after seeing Inception (one of the most mentally and emotionally involving films I have ever seen in my entire life, and an unmitigated masterpiece,) I drove back home, along some dark, lonely roads (every road is dark and lonely at 3 in the morning). While listening to the final song on Radiohead's "Kid A" (Motion Picture Soundtrack) I saw a family of Raccoons crossing the road directly under a large streetlamp. I slowed down a little to make sure I didn't hit them, and felt a little sorrier for the three that had died the day before. Then I noticed what must have been the Father waiting on the far side of the road in my rear-view mirror. My car had scared it from crossing the road. I drove away.

Less than 10 seconds later, another car passed my going the other way. I off-handedly wondered if that car would hit the raccoon. For some reason this stuck with me, and a couple minutes later I turned around and headed back. When I got back, the raccoon was still sitting where I had left him, peeking around to see if he could cross. He saw my car and darted back. So I stopped, and shut my car off. In the middle of a relatively busy road in the dark. The Raccoon poked his head out and looked at me. Not at my car, but at me. After a few seconds, he worked up the courage to cross. It took him almost a minute (thinking back, I probably almost hit him the first time.) Right as he made it to the other side, I started my car. He freaked out and turned around to escape to the relative safety of the other side.

Instead of running around my car, he ran right up to my passenger's side door, stopped, looked at car, judged it no threat, and finished crossing to the other side. Then he left, without looking back. This is where my choice of music comes into play. As I wondered if he found his family, Thom Yorke's voice rang out with "I think you're crazy," which is something I often wonder. Am I crazy for trying to think every day? For caring more about my thoughts, my memories, my philosophies, than my wealth? Am I the crazy one, or is it everyone else?

Maybe this is what some people call a religious experience. A sign from a higher power communicating that everything will work out. Maybe. It has all the hallmarks (pun intended). I don't know. All I know is that for the first time in years, I felt good about something I had done. Not just satisfied, but good. Like I had done something most other people wouldn't have, and it didn't cause me to question my sanity. That's all religion is, in my opinion. An escape from the confines of the mind. If there's anything Inception taught me, it's that the mind will see what it wants to see. There is no more powerful parasite than an idea.

When I got home, right as I got out of my car, a Coyote howled in the distance. Understandably I hurried inside. Coyotes are particularly mean creatures. After getting inside, I realized that I had left my phone in the car. I decided not to go out and get it. I don't know if I'm ready to face that Coyote yet.

All I know is that for a few minutes on July 16th, 2010, Thom Yorke, Christopher Nolan and Raccoon saved my life.

On this, the day of the birth of our nation, we would like you to know that although we were capable of enveloping the Earth in the multicolored shroud of a hydrogen bomb in 1962, we are currently incapable of stopping an oil spill. Which we are responsible for. It has nothing to do with the fact that the oil being spilled is an excuse to hike up the cost of gasoline, money which indirectly finds its way into our pockets (or China's, as we'd like to have you believe).

Also, we have no idea who killed Kennedy and DEFINITELY put a man on the moon.

During my absence from typing out my honest opinions and thoughts a lot of stuff has annoyed me, things which inspired this post.

Let's talk about a man whom I have a unbelievable amount of respect for. Let's talk about how a majority of people who go out of their way to say ridiculously negative things about Shyne are the same people who praise Gucci Mane and OJ Da Juiceman. Shyne did real time not no "2 months in daycare then 10 months on house arrest" like all these "real" rappers who did "time" and then bragged about it. After doing damn near 10 years in prison, Shyne gets released and guess what...he sounds different.
What?!?! No way? Is it horrible? No. It's much better than whats considered "hot" by the masses. His lyrics and beat selections are very good. He did his time and now he's making music.

He's matured, what, did you expect him to get out of jail and talk about how he's been trapping or dancing when he was in a cage for the past decade? Shyne is and will remain one of the most respected rappers by a lot of artists in this fucked up industry. So while you're hating on Shyne, that wack ass rapper who's balls are resting on your chin is wishing they had half the respect that Shyne has. What's wrong with maturing? Grow the fuck up society. Anyways I came here to get this off my chest and post Shyne's street single off his upcoming def jam album "Guess Who". The song is dope as fuck in my opinion. There is an established order to the world. Since the beginnings of civilization, there always has been. Be it the Catholic Church, the British Empire or the American Government, there has always been some "higher" authority telling average men and women what they should and should not be. (Since the Western World considers itself superior, I'll deal only with it. Specifically America.)

With the inventions of the steam engine, airplane, automobile and television in the 19th and 20th Centuries, this began to change. Men began to think more for themselves and not their country. Philosophers like Sartre, Bergson, Nietzsche, Marx, Kierkegaard and Heidegger (along with other types of thinkers, such as Oscar Wilde and Voltaire) began to question the very nature of our existence to a point not seen since the Golden Age of the Greek Empire.

While the rise of technology gave birth to existentialism and other forms of free-minded expression, it also signaled the rise of war on a global scale. For the first time in our bloody history, men would have the means to completely obliterate his fellow man from the face of the Earth with the push of the button.

This is a country not just of ignorance, but of prideful ignorance.

This culture of ignorance is not accidental. Those in power, be they government or corporate, do not wish for an educated and intelligent populace. They would much rather prefer you quiet, stupid and interested in what they have to sell. You may be thinking me overly-critical, but ask yourself one question. When was the last time you can remember someone in power asking you to think, to analyze? They tell you what to think, what to believe. "Freedom is the right to say that two plus two equals four," Winston Smith said. But what happens when those in power tell you it doesn't? What happens when two plus two equals five? Do you have the ability to fight for it? Will you stick by something no one else will? Will you resist? To me, this is the true meaning of intelligence.

You might say that I am paranoid. You might say that I'm grasping at straws, or that I'm seeing connections where there are none. Maybe I am.

But maybe I'm not.

As none of you may know, I'm a pretty massive Batman fan, it probably being 3rd or 4th on "Topics I can school you in," along with LOST, American Professional Sports and Star Wars. Of all of Batman's Rogues Gallery, The Riddler has always been near the top for me. I really don't know why, he's really not a great villain. Maybe it's because he always drags out the intellectual best of the Dark Knight Detective, but I seriously love the Riddler. Imagine my joy when I heard the rumor that the Riddler would be the main villain in Christopher Nolan's third Batman film.

So, in commemoration of what will soon be an announcement on the Riddler, I've decided to do a run-down of the best candidates to portray the E. Nigma. And, no, Jim Carrey will not be one of them.

Hugh Laurie: That's right, Dr. Gregory Motherfucking House (official name). He could definitely portray the proper amounts of genius and obsession. He would also be able to use his natural British accent for the role (I think it works for the character). Hell, we also know he can handle a cane.

David Tennant: A fan favorite, I must admit I'm not that familiar with Mr. Tennant, but I know he's a very good Dr. Who. That's more than good enough for me.

Johnny Depp: What's this? An intelligent yet insane character with a eccentric manner of speaking and dressing in a movie? Must be a Depp character then. Not to say I wouldn't welcome him as the Riddler, he's Johnny Depp. I'm just saying that it might be too...obvious of a choice. And if the Riddler is anything, it's unexpected.

Michael Emerson: LOST's Benjamin Linus, Emerson has certainly proven that he can play the cryptic villain. He certainly has the intelligence and the build. I'm not sure that he would ever really get an opportunity, or that he would accept, but it's a thought nonetheless.

Guy Pearce: Well we know he's familiar with Christopher Nolan. Kind of a ho hum choice, but once again, Nolan knows him well. It could be very good if done properly (I didn't think Heath Ledger would be very good at first, either).

Joseph Gordon-Levitt: Another Nolan-ite (or at least, a future Nolan-ite) who fits the bill physically and intellectually. He's one of the few actors listed that I can readily picture in the Green Tux.

Timothy Olyphant: Probably one of the most underrated actors in all of Hollywood (which is a really outdated phrase considering how many films aren't made in Hollywood), Olyphant has 3 things going for him. Looks, acting ability and how awesome his name would look on the marquee. Bale. Freeman. Caine. Olyphant.

Casey Affleck: After careful consideration, I really think he might be the best choice. Anyone who's ever seen The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford knows that Affleck the Younger can really handle that obsessed/jealous vibe, especially while playing against a character of bigger stature. My only real concern is that his voice might not be Riddler-y enough, but then again, it would definitely be a departure.

Eddie Murphy: No.

It's a mystery. Broken into a jigsaw puzzle. Wrapped in a conundrum. Hidden inside a Chinese box. A riddle.

I always told myself that when it comes to my music i'd never prevaricate. With that being said, I've got some bad news. I was talking about this with Frank Ramz a couple weeks ago, we as unsigned artists without a budget or someone with money backing us, are going to face setbacks no matter what. My EP, Down 2 Earth was suppose to drop tomorrow. Unfortunately my engineer's father passed away last week and I won't be able to get the final copies of 3 songs off my EP until this weekend. I have no control over this, I wish I did but until I'm able to get those final copies I won't be able to put Down 2 Earth out. I'm not gonna say a specific date because I don't wanna let anyone down again but hopefully next weekend I'll be able to put it out. I assure you all that it is done and as soon as I get those final copies I will send it out to be posted. My apologies to anybody that was looking forward to hearing it tomorrow. Due to the unfortunate push back, I'm revealing the back artwork to the EP below.

Yeah, so I was already pretty excited for the World Cup. Nike just raised my excitement level by about 10,000 factors.

This brilliant new ad, starring Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Fabio Cannovaro, Franck Ribery, Landon Donovan and Tim Howard (everyone I could pick out), plus Kobe Bryant/Roger Federer/Homer Simpson), is beyond awesome. This might be the greatest sports advertisement in the history of western civilization.

The only way I could possibly like this more is if it were a 3 minute NBA ad starring all of Nike's NBA stars. Maybe.

New Beginnings

Yeah, so completely disregard what I said about a surprise for George Orwell fans. I might still do that, but it'll take a lot longer than I had first anticipated.

So, in a completely different direction, I'll give a summation of the 2009-2010 Chicago Bulls.

The Bulls finished 41-41, despite trading away Tyrus Thomas and John Salmons, two of their four best players (in my opinion), for absolutely nothing of value. Still, this season wasn't supposed to be important, so a first round loss against the LeBrons (despite really good series' from Rose, Noah and Deng) is alright with me. Most teams' fans would take exception to someone accepting a first-round loss, but this is not most teams. Nor is it most years. This year is 2010. The year of the Wade.

This summer (July 1st, to be exact) LeBron James (who is probably staying), Dwyane Wade, Joe Johnson, Chris Bosh, Dirk Nowitski, Amar'e Stoudemire, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and a host of other All-Stars will become free agents. While it's highly unrealistic that they'll ALL opt out of their contracts, it stands to believe that at least 5 of them will. And of all the teams who have enough cap space to sign more than one of these superstars (Bulls, Knicks, Thunder, Clippers, Nets), the Bulls are arguably the only team with a good enough roster and a big enough need. This is especially fortuitous since Dwyane Wade is from Chicago, and could form an All-Chicago Super Backcourt with Derrick Rose.

As many of you can see, Sky Status is back. A new start is what we always want in life, maybe it's after doing something you regret or just simply sick of how you are living right now. But when we do get the chances to start everything all over again, carefully planning out every detail on what should be achieved and what we no longer want to do, does it always turn out the way we want it to be? Koyaanisqatsi

Koyaanisqatsi is a Hopi word meaning "life out of balance." It is also the title of a visionary 1982 film from Godfrey Reggio. The movie depicts human society as monotonous and soulless, and can very easily be interpreted as an indictment of the consumer society we all live in.

Ignore the Man Behind the Curtain

Those that have the power would have you believe that in order to be happy, you must buy their products and work at their jobs. The world of the consumer is a binary world. You are either a 1 or a 0. You either fit or you don't. The world of the consumer deals only in absolute. No dualities. Pragmatism, not idealism.

Sure, no one is actually happy. Their subconscious struggles with their own mortality. No one lives forever. But this is just the "Real World." There's no changing it. There is no changing the real world. You go to public schooling as a child. Not to learn, of course. At least not in the ways you should be. You are sent, by force, to a glorified indoctrination center, where you are taught how to fit into a society that you never volunteered to fit into. Nothing is more important than your job, they tell you. You have to be a functioning member of society.

Profits over people. If you don't have a job, how can you make money? You know, money, that green paper that we ascribe so much worth to. What is it? Does anyone know? It's fucking paper. It is, in most cases, worth less than it costs to make. It is worth a promise. It is a completely human construct. Much like race, money does not actually exist past what we say it does. Then why is it so important? Why is it continually preferred over the lives of humans? Why is it that EVERYONE who is "successful" has to make money? Because those who have it don't feel like losing it. People wonder why I don't trust politicians, why I see the Presidency as nothing more than a figurehead for international banking interests. Because I know that anyone in any position of power is there because they wanted to be. ANYONE IN POWER WANTS POWER. They crave it. Which means that, nine times out of ten, they will place the acquisition and preservation of their power over your well-being. Power is made by power being taken.

They tell you that the real world is a harsh place. They aren't wrong. They're just neglecting to tell you that the real world is so harsh because they made it that way. This country, along with most of the "civilized" world, is governed by businessmen. Economic sociopaths, as I call them. There is no bigger oxymoron in the English Language then "Business Ethics." Well, perhaps "Military Intelligence," but I digress.

Lines in the Sand

I don't want this to seem as if I'm railing against a nameless foe. I am not an anarchist. I don't say "Fuck the System" because the system is bad. I say it because the people who make it are. Everyone deludes themselves into believing that society's ills are the fault of God (or some other otherworldly figure). They fail to see that everything, everything that is wrong with our culture is the fault of humanity. Human beings. The same species as you, me, and anyone else reading this.

Perhaps this realization can be a little much for some people, so they partake in that oldest of Human traditions, line-drawing. They invent reasons not to identify with one another, be it race, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, likes, dislikes, height, weight, hair color. They become determined only to notice the differences between themselves over the similarities. This is ignorance at its worst. It's much easier to kill someone if you envision them as less than you, or different. For the longest time, African Slaves were considered "sub-human." The history of this country is littered with racial line-drawing. Less than 100 years ago, it was illegal for many Irish and Italian immigrants to receive jobs in America (it may not have been illegal, per se, but it was definitely frowned upon socially). What are the Irish and Italians now? Of course they are "white." Judgment is a crutch used by the small-minded to rationalize their own small-mindedness.

Human history is nothing more than a litany of bloodshed, a never-ending list of excuses to kill one another. Humans are, and always have been, very accepting of what they are told. They accept what their parents tell them. They accept the judgments of the church, of the state, of the authority. They find it easier to be told what to do than to think of what to do. Like I said before, I am not an Anarchist. I believe that people should do what they are qualified to do. You should earn everything you get. In a sense, I am a Meritocracist. I do not believe, however, that any single person (or any small group of people) should make significant decisions for the majority. This includes Monarchies (no butterflies), Oligarchies, Totalitarian states or even Republics. Even Democracy, which we are told is the system we use in this country (a bold faced lie), is inherently flawed. Because people are inherently flawed.

Thomas Jefferson said it best when he said "Democracy is nothing more than a mob rule, where 51% of the population can take away the rights of the other 49%."

Misanthropy

I've come to the realization lately that I am definitely a misanthrope. According to wikipedia, Misanthropy is a "general dislike or distrust of mankind." This, if you've been paying attention so far, is definitely my stance. This is not to say I can't like a person. In fact, I love several of them. As Tommy Lee Jones says in the original Men in Black "A person is smart. People are stupid." Mankind is capable of unbelievable beauty and unbelievable decency. My love for mankind's creations (music, movies, books, television, sports and video games) attests to this belief. This, perhaps, makes it even more so unfortunate to be a part of this world.

The only people who seem to be good and pure throughout their existence are children. They see the world much more clearly than the rest of us. They don't yet know what it is that is expected of them, all of the roles the have to play, all of the rules they have to follow. Some would say that "ignorance is bliss." I ask if what they are ignorant of is really something that should ever be learned. Surely they aren't ignorant of the sunrise? Surely they know right from wrong. Most children do. It is my belief that a person should only be judged by a child or an animal. They are the only beings capable of objectively judging someone. Any man who scares a child is no man I wish to know. They are humanity at its greatest, before they are poisoned by society and its demands.

Beauty

There is a duality in man. We are capable of the most beautiful works of art and the most heinous works of destruction. The depressing thing about is that most don't care for beauty. They only care for the here and know, for disposable entertainment. They can't be bothered to think. A lesser man would be blaming television and video games and other mind-rotting electronic stimulation. I have no such delusions. Anything can be intellectually stimulating if it is consumed by someone who thinks. Everything has meaning. Most of us just don't care to see it.

In 2008, Gene Weingarten of The Washington Post published an award-winning column called "Pearls Before Breakfast.". The article was about his experiment with Joshua Bell, a world-famous violinist. Joshua, dressed in simple clothes not generally ascribed to a Classical Musician, played a 43-minute concert at L'Enfant Plaza Station in Washington D.C. He was playing, basically as a street musician. During his performance, over 1,000 people passed him by. Six of them stopped to listen. This is not a criticism of those people's musical taste. Perhaps they don't care for classical music. This is simply an observation that they didn't stop. They had meetings to attend. They had jobs to do. They couldn't be bothered to let something beautiful and meaningful into their lives.

Some people would say that children do not, in fact, know right from wrong. That they must be taught. This is ludicrous. Everyone should know right from wrong without being told what it is. Anyone should know if another human being is suffering. Empathy is a seldom-used human emotion. It isn't hard. People tell me "not to worry about all the bad shit happening in the world, it isn't happening to you."

That doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Please understand that despite my anger, despite my indignation, I am not a pessimist. I truly want to trust people. I want to believe that people are good. I am not a pessimist. I am a jaded idealist.

All I want is for you to stop and smell the flowers before you die. Get into music. Get into sports. Read a book, sing a song. Love life. Enjoy it while you can. Fall in love with something or someone, at least once.

First off, if you haven't seen it, here's a hilarious/sobering video from POP Culture's Sweetheart, Miley Cyrus.

First off, "I don't know, I didn't write that song," should tell you off the bat (in case you're a complete moron) that Miley Cyrus is, in general, one of the more talentless piles of corporate filth that we've had the misfortune of having shoved down our collective throats the past few years. She is, in short, everything that's wrong with both music and popular culture in general, and is anathema to everything I believe in. That's not to say I hate her so much as I hate that she has permeated our culture so much.

To be honest, I don't have any real problem with her not listening to Jay-Z. It's a matter of taste, and if she doesn't like him, that's her perogative. My problem is that she has the nerve, no, the fucking gall to call his music "pop." Like her music is any different? She's about as "Country" as Taylor Swift. Not to give the impression that I like Country Music, but I can at least say that's its not as bad as the mindless drivel shoveled out by Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers and all their Disney cohorts.

This would be bad enough, but I've recently learned that Miley said that Coldplay and Radiohead are two of her favorite bands. Nothing against either band (I do like both), but how the fuck is Jay-Z pop and Coldplay NOT? She says she's "never listened to a Jay-Z song," but I'm fairly sure a serious Coldplay fan would have heard him. Despite that serious lack of knowing what a genre is, the most egregious, ridiculous thing about all of this is...

If Coldplay and Radiohead are her favorite bands, WHY IN THE FUCK DOES SHE MAKE SUCH SHITTY MUSIC? Why would you write (read: agree to half-heartedly record what a failed musician wrote) such shitty, soul-crushing music? Seriously. I want someone to explain this to me. It's not like she's wanting for cash, her equally-untalented father had money even before the Modern Apocalypse known as Hannah Montana was shoveled onto our increasingly-diseased airwaves.

If, for some horrible reason I'm ever "graced" to meet Ms. Cyrus, I'll be sure to ask her that. Right before I graffiti her dressing room and burn her and her faulty system to the fucking ground.

Drunken Tongue Speaks The Sober Mind

I don't know how to start this. As I take sips from my alcoholic beverage a few things keep running through my mind. Obviously I decided to get online and speak about them, thinking maybe someone will read.

Firstly, lets discuss "Down to Earth" which for those who don't know, it's my upcoming EP. The release date was originally intended for Halloween but due to my engineer going out of town and me taking a vacation I wasn't able to finish on time. "Down to Earth" was originally gonna roughly be around 6 or 7 songs but now it's looking like it will be 9 or 10. The production is basically split in half by my homie Thelonious and my brother from another country Charlie Hilton, with a couple tracks produced by cats outside of my camp.

The story behind the title is kind of simple. I've recently gone through some personal shit and I wasn't in the right state of mind to write "Growing Wings". Basically I run through a few of my insecurities, my life, my name. Kind of like I'm giving a honest and heartfelt interview with a fan. A lot of artists don't let you, the fan or listener, in on certain parts of their lives, they tend to keep a lot of stuff hidden. I titled it "Down to Earth" because before I could grow my wings, I needed to let everybody get a closer look into who I am. I need people to know who I am at least somewhat before "Growing Wings" so they can watch me find myself musically, because its all about growth in this art and I think it would be better if more people could come along for the ride, or in my situation come along for the flight.

Lets switch gears and talk about collaborations. Who is featured on "Down to Earth"? Now thats a good question, right now I might only keep the features limited to one person, Frank Ramz. We got this track that is currently untitled and should be finished soon. It's about our pasts and how shit's changed. It shall defintely be something special. Each song on the EP will have a written description/story behind it when it's released. I'd like to describe the EP as a prelude of sorts.

Lastly but not least, lets talk about Sky Status. We have a few new posters who have been holding the site down. We got my man Cosmis, who is like the main poster and is also amazing writer. I've known him for years and his skills keep elevating so stay tuned for any post from him. We got the homie Mikey Almighty, who I'm honestly not too familiar with but Thelonious co-signed for him and thats enough for me. PARIS – For Rei Kawakubo’s hotly anticipated collaboration with The Beatles, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

In fact, the logo of Apple Corps Ltd. — the London-based company that manages the legacy and musical catalogue of the British band — sits next to Kawakubo’s signature polkadots on a range of travel bags, the core of the collection, along with shirts and T-shirts.

Priced from around $115 for a T-shirt up to $860 for the most expensive bag, The Beatles/Comme des Garçons label is to launch Nov. 20 in Tokyo at the Trading Museum, a new Comme store concept in the Gyre building. Dover Street Market, Kawakubo’s multibrand emporium in London, is to host the British launch on Nov. 27, with a further commercial rollout planned for 2010.

The iconoclastic designer of Comme des Garçons told WWD she opted for a “strong, conceptual” approach to the project “instead of making many unnecessary items that may in time come to resemble a Beatles souvenir shop.

“I thought it was better to concentrate on one strong idea, so I decided to construct the collection around the one idea of bags,” she said.

The 10 large-format styles are made in Japan to high-quality standards, using embossed polyurethane or printed PVC and detailed with metal grommets, embossing and cords.

Apple Corps’ only stipulation was no leather be used in the collection, given the antileather stance of Sir Paul McCartney, an advocate of vegetarianism and animal rights.

“We said that’s fine by us as Rei doesn’t like much using leather either,” noted Adrian Joffe, chief executive officer of Comme des Garçons International. The collection is projected to generate wholesale volume of about $5 million in the first year.

“Gigantic” is how Joffe characterized the level of interest in the project, with American department stores and multibrand fashion boutiques worldwide vying for distribution rights. But he said the plan is to roll out “slowly” and add new styles periodically.

Comme des Garçons signed a three-year worldwide licensing deal with Apple Corps, and Kawakubo was granted access to all Beatles imagery, graphics and photos, “so who knows where it will go next,” Joffe said.

Yoko Ono is among guests expected at the Tokyo launch party at Trading Museum, which will showcase an eclectic array or objects — for display or purchase — from vintage hats and jewelry to industrial designs and giant cacti.

So, Wing Span and I went to the local mall in what turned out to be a completely fruitless search, and when we were leaving the underground section of the Macy's store, we realized we were on the wrong side and decided to go up the down escalators. When we came up top, some guy came up to us and called us "girls," and then spouted off a plethora of color-by-numbers authoritative bullshit to us, hoping to cure "turds like us" of our hoodlum ways. He tried telling us that he was going to call security on us, to throw us out of a store we were already leaving.

Now I can understand if he took offense to us going up the escalators like that (which is an admittedly juvenile act) but he started being disrespectful, getting in Span's face like he thought he was indimidating (he was significantly smaller than Span, which is saying something lol), and all-in-all just acting like a Class A douchebag.

When he turned to leave (probably to go beat his kids, cry about his wife cheating on him with his brother and prepare for another day of a job he hates in a life that sucks), I called him a dipshit (a reasonable claim). Then he got all upset, like he'd never heard such language before, and told us to "go outside." Confused, we might have had half a mind to do just that, until he got the bottom of the escalator and picked up his kid. Who the fuck is going to try to fight two "kids" over something that really isn't very offensive (and something that everyone has done at least once) in front of his kid? Fuck that guy and his system. Which has obviously failed.

Since Beemer's got the "Throwback Tuesday" on lock, I figured that I'd make your Hump Days a little easier (at least those of you who are massive NBA fans).

The Season officially started on October 27, which makes it just over one week old, the perfect time to pass ultimate judgment upon the big names and big teams.

LeBron James, despite the Cavs slow start, is a monstrous defensive player at times. Everyone knows he can and will score in bunches, but his defensive game is leaps and bounds ahead of where it was when they went to the Finals.

His game is at the point, now, where dominating anyone short of Kobe is like child's play to him.

Speaking of child's play, Dwight "Superman" Howard fouled out in 16 minutes of play last night against a Pistons frontcourt consisting of...Ben Wallace and Kwame Brown. That's right, Ben "Career 6.2 points per game" Wallace and Kwame "Worst #1 Pick of this Millenium" Brown. All seems to be well in Dwight-Land as he dominated the previously-unbeaten Suns tonight. The Magic are so good right now that they can beat STAT and Captain Canada by 22 points without Rashard Lewis or a healthy Vince Carter. Does anyone else think that the road to the finals for Cleveland or Boston may not make it through Orlando?

In the West, the Lakers are playing well thus far, although recent reports have them locked in a tight one with the always-scrappy Houston Rockets. Carmelo Anthony is playing out of his mind so far, and if the season ended today (t'would be a pretty bad season), he would win the MVP in a landslide.

No NBA Round Up would be complete for me if it didn't mention my beloved Chicago Bulls, who have come out...flat and still have a 2-2 record. Luol Deng (formerly known as "Fucking Luol Deng") has played the best basketball I've ever seen him play, which is fortunate for Vinny Del Negro's squad, as John Salmons and Derrick Rose have been off so far this year.

Hello readers, I know i've been missing lately but atleast Cosmis has been holding it down for us. Now on to my weekend, which was quite crazy to say the least. My friends and I left on Friday(10/30/09) morning and the weather was pretty shitty when we arrived. Though it ended up getting pretty decent. You can watch the video of us arriving below.

We started off our weekend by heading to "Pennys Noodles" and god was that fucking disgusting. I was a total asshole, the food was so bad to me that it upset my mood(lol). I don't remember much of the first night because I passed out pretty early. We copped a few 40oz's played some music and started drinking. The thing is I had taken 3 klonopins for my anxiety a couple hours before we started drinking. And for you information klonopins and alcohol don't mix that well. Apparently I was stealing shots of jagermeister but I don't remember that. I only remember passing out with my head in the toilet and Beemer vlogging in the mirror while I was puking(lmao). I'm not quite sure how but Beemer got a hold of my phone but he did and decided it would be cool to start "jerking". See the video of my crew doing the "Jerk" below.

I remember getting up and going to the couch and somebody putting blankets on me but then I got up and stumbled to the bathroom to puke again. I remember a couple of different people coming in to pat my back and check on me. Beemer told me they went outside and came back in and I was laying with my head out of the bathroom not moving and they really thought I had died(lol?). Heres a video which was apparently taken a hour after I passed out.

And as promised to my man G, below is a video of him dancing to a Timbo beat, he fucking kills it with the dance moves. He doesn't start dancing until about 3 minutes in because they were searching for a beat, but be sure to check out his moves.

Enough with the first night, now on to Halloween. We woke up and went grabbed some sandwiches from Jimmy Johns and it was pretty tasty then we headed back to the apartment to get ready to pre-game. We went out to dinner at the Blue Line Lounge and the food was phenomenal. After that we headed to the apartment and started really drinking and getting our faces painted up so we could head out to some parties. See the pic below of G and I without our faces painted (doesn't it look like i'm holding the baby in the poster?)

I was suppose to shoot a video for the first leak/intro "Welcome" off my upcoming EP "Down to Earth" but we ended up getting way to wasted. I was pretty gone before we even left to go to some party downtown. Below is a picture of Me, Beemer, G, & Zac painted up before we left.

After all this we all got on the train and headed downtown. Once we arrived at this party I started drinking again and ending up hooking up with a few chicks, the girl I got the most invovled with ended up telling me she kinda had a boyfriend and that he was at the same party(I know wtf?). At this point in the night, I was the drunkest i've ever been in my entire life and I ended up disrespecting G & Beemer who are like my brothers and I love to death. So to them, I apologize you both know it's all love. We got to the train station to head home and we met some drunk chick who started dancing on camera and she ended up being part of the reason me and my friends squashed our temporary beef and apologize. We got back to the apartment at like 6:00am. I took 2 more shots of vodka, had a slice of pizza and crashed on the floor while watching the Exorcist. All in all, one hell of a weekend. Sorry for the long post, but this was made mainly for me and my friends as a way to remember this weekend. Most people who follow NCAA College Football know about this, from the opening week of the season. After Boise State embarrassed pre-season national title contender Oregon, a Boise State player (someone named Byron Hout) started taunting Oregon Running Back LeGarrette Blount, who retaliated with a sucker punch (and subsequent hissy fit) that got him suspended for the rest of the season. A fair punishment? Your call, but what isn't fair is the lack of punishment Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes is getting for gouging at the eyes of a University of Georgia player (Running Back Washaun Ealey).

Personally, I find Spikes' actions much worse than Blount's, but for some reason, Flordia coach Urban Meyer is only suspending Spikes for the first half against Vanderbilt. What kind of bullshit is this, Meyer? He should at the very least be suspended a full game. I know shit like this happens all the time in football piles, but that doesn't make it right, especially when it's so blantantly seen by the cameras. You can go ahead and try to say that Spikes was "trying to pull Ealey down," but the play was basically over and Spikes moves his fingers around far too much. He looked like a little kid trying to get Halloween candy out the bottom of a bag or something.

Best Movies of 09

After seeing upwards of 15 movies in theaters this year, I think it's time I start to rank them, somehow. Since Shutter Island isn't coming out this year (which is fucking lame), I have a feeling that the #1 movie won't be changing.

#15- Halloween II (August 28). Span and I both saw a different movie than the general public did, apparently. I'm not saying it was great, but we both thought that it was at least as good as Zombie's first. Maybe Rob is just an acquired taste, but I really do like his style. To each their own, I guess.

Negatives- Brutally, violently different.

#14- Notorious (January 16). I had almost forgotten that this came out in 09. This year has gone by slower than I remember. I think, if I had seen this list before the year started, I would have been disappointed with the Biggie movie being this low, but that's not really a bad thing. This year was/is rich with good movies.

Positives- Jamal Woolard was perfect.
Negatives- Nobody else was (least of all Anthony Mackie. Worst Pac ever).

#13- State of Play (April 17). Didn't actually see this in theaters. Still, it was a smartly written movie featuring pure awesomeness from the dependable Russell Crowe, the surprising Ben Affleck and the gorgeous Rachel McAdams.

Negatives- Maybe a little dense for the average viewer (i.e., idiots)

#12- Observe and Report (April 10). Seth Rogen was fucking mean in this movie. That will either attract you or repel you. Seriously, he's psychotic. Aziz Ansari (a favorite of mine and Span's) is great, per usual. I hate to compare it to something so shitty, but this movie is like Bizzaro Blart. It is the opposite of that travesty in every way. And it's better. A LOT better.

Positives- Some seriously funny, mean spirited humor.
Negatives- It really is fucking MEAN. Capital M-E-A-N.

#11- Angels & Demons (May 14). Tom Hanks, despite the 20 or so pounds he put on for this role, is great. The plot, while predictably ridiculous, adheres to the book even better than the Da Vinci Code. That is a great strength and a great weakness. I've read the book. Twice. And I still was confused at times. I'd rather be confused than bored, though.

Positives- Breathtakingly intense, geniunely engaging.
Negatives- Convoluted as shit.

#10- I Love You, Man (March 20). The biggest compliment I can pay is that this movie surprised the hell out of me. In retrospect, I shouldn't be surprised. I love Paul Rudd. I love Jason Segel. I'm starting to love Rashida Jones. I don't love this movie, though. But I did enjoy it. And that's all you can ask for in a comedy.

Positives- Intelligently funny and stupidly funny. Not many movies can do both.
Negatives- Kind of tame. Not enough Andy Samberg.

#9- Fanboys (February 6...technically). Ok, so this movie is like two years old, but it was released in 09, so it counts damn it! First off, this movie engages one's nerd sensibilites like no movies since...since Star Wars, actually. I'm not saying being a Star Wars nerd makes this movie funnier, but it doesn't hurt. It doesn't hurt when the entire cast is awesome (except Kristen Bell. she's double awesome). Seth Rogen makes an appearance. Or two. Or three. Any self-respecting Star Wars fan would have to enjoy this film.

Positives- More Star Wars references than you can shake a Gaffi stick at.
Negatives- See above. =(

#8- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (July 15). Before the year, I would have laughed if someone told me I would have this movie this high. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the books. I have since...since they first came out on this side of the pond. But I really don't like the films. I don't know why. This one was easily better than any of the previous five, with the possible exception of the third. I actually want to see the seventh/eighth now. That's the best compliment I can give this film.

Positives- Daniel Radcliffe actually acts!!! Emma Watson is also a plus, as always.
Negatives- Still kind of cheesy when it shouldn't be.

#7- The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard (August 14). Don't even start. I love Jeremy Piven (though not as much as Span does). I love this style of film (reminds me of Anchorman more than anything else). I doubt this movie will have the legs that Anchorman does, but damn it was funny. I like Will Ferrell again. And Craig Robinson remains funny as hell. Charles Napier was epic as well.

Positives- Absurdly, ridiculously, unbelievably funny at times.
Negatives- Kind of 'meh' the rest of the time.

#6- Adventureland (April 3). Jesse Eisenberg is like a funnier version of Michael Cera. Except not annoying. Michael Cera sucks. There, that's out of the way. This movie was strange, not all that funny, and kind of long. But why did I like it so damn much? Alright, Michael Cera's ok. I prefer Eisenberg, though.

Positives- Strange AND interesting. Like Napoleon Dynamite, except interesting.
Negatives- Slow.

#5- The Hangover (June 5). I doubt this movie will be a third as funny in three years as it was when I first saw it. You could say the same about Old School. But this movie succeeded where Old School didn't for me. It made me cry laughing in the theater. Seriously. I couldn't handle Zach Galifianakis in this movies (so fucking happy he got into the mainstream. I love Fat Jesus.)

Positives- Will make you cry when you first see it. Guaranteed.
Negatives- Will never make you cry the next time you see it.

#4- Zombieland (October 2). Jesse Eisenberg strikes again. Except this time, he has a better cast. As much as I like Bill Hader, Martin Starr, and Ryan Reynolds, Woody Harrelson just shits on them in Zombieland. He's amazing. Emma Stone is hotter (and a better actress) than Kristen Stewart, too. And, well, let's just say that Bill Murray is...Bill Murray.

Positives- Just fun. Plain fun. A little smarter than you would have thought, too.

#3- Watchmen (March 3). Sure, Rorschach is a walking Republican stereotype ("I smell Liberals!). Sure, Dr. Manhattan's cock has more screen time than half the characters. That's probably a plus for some of you. Sure, it doesn't quite make sense. Watchmen is an experience. I really wish I'd read the comic before I saw it. There is a reason that LOST's Damon Lindelof calls Watchmen "the greatest piece of popular fiction ever made."

Positives- Unlike anything anyone's ever seen.
Negatives- ?

#2- District 9 (August 13). I may get some shit for putting this higher than Watchmen. Fuck that, I loved this movie. It's cheesy at times, sure. But the rest of the time it's just fantastic. I loved District 9.

Positives- Intelligent, deep, exciting and just plain interesting.
Negatives- Shows it's budget too much. Not enough from the other characters.

#1- Inglourious Basterds (August 21). Quentin Tarantino reclaims his throne as the most interesting director in the world, and Brad Pitt finally ascends to the levels I've wanted him to be at. I'm not joking when I say that Basterds might have been as good as Pulp Fiction. If you ever get to know me at all, you'll realize how serious of a statement that is from me. I just wish, sometimes, that Brad Pitt could act without using a southern accent. Lol.

Positives- Everything.
Negatives- NOTHING (ok, a little slow at times, and probably not a great idea if you don't either read well or are a polyglot).

Hello, all. Cosmis is the name, random bloging is the game.

Span is having me help get this blogging shit off the ground (pun intended), so I'll start with the one thing I know that I know better than he knows, you know? Sports.

Tim Duncan is absolutely murdering my Bulls right now. He's hitting everything. Tonight he looks like he could score on a brick wall. He's just that good. Manu "Never Heard of Rogaine" Ginobili looks like he should be coaching in my opinion. I know he's still pretty good, but the dude's bald spot is like 2 feet wide.

In NFL news, the Bears suck. Or at least their offensive line does. I, for some reason, watched them get completely blasted by Cincinnati on Sunday, and let's just say it made me sad. Still, this far into the NFL Season, I can say three things for sure.

1. Drew Brees is awesome.

2. JaMarcus Russell isn't. (sorry Span m8)

3. Roger Goodell has a bigger boner for having an NFL team in London than he does for suspending black players (try and tell me he doesn't go home and shoot a load all over Mike Vick's mugshot).

I know the World Series is on right now, but I hate the Yankees, and I don't particularly like the Phillies, so I'm not too interested. I'm still paying attention, but there's no way I'm watching any of those games when there's Bulls Basketball, Parks and Recreation and The Office to watch. Especially when they're playing Muse to close out the third quarter on TNT.

I don't know how to start this, my blogger has digital dust on it(lol). In all serious though, I apologize for the hiatus. I was going through some really serious personal issues and was on the verge of dying a couple times to say the least. My good friend and producer Hilton told me "don't worry about music for awhile, focus on your health". And I basically did exactly that for a while. Last time I blogged on here I was talking about "Growing Wings", well that was originally intended to be a EP but thats scrapped "Growing Wings" will be album like and its in pre-production. Its Still executive produced by Charlie Hilton and it will be the best work i've ever done. The thing is "Growing Wings" probably won't be out until sometime early 2010.

Don't worry I got something to hold everybody off until "Growing Wings" drops. I have this EP called "Down to Earth" that will be released within a few weeks. I'll be giving in depth details on the EP and its title. I also blog for www.hilkoo.com now so be sure to check us out. I'm also going to be hiring new a author to blog for Sky Status. I just wanted to let everybody know that Wing Span is back and my press release is coming very soon, so stay tuned.

"Love changes and best friends become strangers"

As I sit back and listen to "Loso's Way", one song happens to remind me of someone who I consider my "best friend". He may not be aware of his actions or the consequences that could come with those actions so I haven't really approached the subject with him. I guess these actions stand out more to me because i'm on the outside looking in but whatever. I understand that some females can have a heavy influence on dudes and make them wanna act like and or be someone they aren't. And thats all good but you can't tell me to act a certain way or what to wear because you wanna impress some bitch. Especially if your not dating her, not even fucking her.

Maybe I was just raised different or I grew up too fast because it seems like I can't be bothered with bullshit. I'm losing trust in those who I should trust the most and one things for sure that isn't my fault. Granted I was depressed when I got kicked out of high school & was wanting to throw my ex girlfriend off a building which resulted in me not wanting to go out an party every night. This was months ago though, I think you might be losing yourself or something brother. And don't take my honesty as disrespect because i'm not really into disrespecting family. You need to do some critical thinking and decide what you really wanna do because with or without you i'm moving to Chicago.

Don't stress over no bitch either man, believe me i've done that. Its only gonna fuck you over in the long run. If she doesn't like you, fuck her, but no matter what you shouldn't pretend to be someone your not. And never ever expect me to fake it for those people you've been running around with. If they don't like me thats cool but you avoiding me because you got a crush on the rich girls from far away isn't cool. You've been calling a lot lately when you and your "friends" need favors yet when I need a favor somebody doesn't text back or answer the phone. I'm just gonna focus on me and my project for now. My best advice to you is don't become a Pachanga and drive slow man.

A few weeks ago I went to test out a new recording studio and this track is what came of it. Nothing too serious, i'm infatuated with the whole NY hip hop scene so I wanted to try something new and show love at the same time. This obviously won't be on "Growing Wings" the content will be totally different. Oh and no that isn't the official cover for the EP its something Hilton came up with for promo kinda.
